Amanshouldconceiveofalegitimateuroseinhisheart，andsetouttoaccomlishit。Heshouldmakethisurosethecentralizingointofhisthoughts。Itmaytaketheformofasiritualideal，oritmaybeaworldlyobject，accordingtohisnatureatthetimebeing；butwhicheveritis，heshouldsteadilyfocushisthought—forcesuontheobject，whichhehassetbeforehim。Heshouldmakethisurosehissuremeduty，andshoulddevotehimselftoitsattainment，notallowinghisthoughtstowanderawayintoehemeralfancies，longings，andimaginings。Thisistheroyalroadtoself-controlandtrueconcentrationofthought。Evenifhefailsagainandagaintoaccomlishhisurose（ashenecessarilymustuntilweaknessisovercome），thestrengthofcharactergainedwillbethemeasureofhistruesuccess，andthiswillformanewstarting-ointforfutureowerandtriumh。
Thosewhoarenotrearedforthearehensionofagreaturoseshouldfixthethoughtsuonthefaultlesserformanceoftheirduty，nomatterhowinsignifcanttheirtaskmayaear。Onlyinthiswaycanthethoughtsbegatheredandfocused，andresolutionandenergybedeveloed，whichbeingdone，thereisnothingwhichmaynotbeaccomlished。

Thewilltodosringsfromtheknowledgethatwecando。Doubtandfeararethegreatenemiesofknowledge，andhewhoencouragesthem，whodoesnotslaythem，thwartshimselfateveryste。
